The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Uganda Airlines,Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki plus her top management have today August 19, 2025, deliberately dodged meeting the Parliament’s Commissions on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) . Embattled Bamuturaki and her management team were supposed to appear before COSASE to answer audit queries previously raised in the Auditor General’s Report for 2023/24.
Last week, Bamuturaki, who trembled before the same committee, shocked parliamentary members when she attributed the Shs.237.855 billion loss the company incurred in 2024 to high costs of fuel, crew allowances and aircraft depreciation.
To aggravate matters, she told this same committee that the national carrier is set to retire its fleet of Bombardier CRJ 900 jets due to unbearable challenges in sourcing spare parts.
Though Bamuturaki got the invitation days ago, the committee was left wondering why she didn’t show up moreover without any communication to any committee members.
The committee chairperson Hon.Medard Lubega Ssegona, in his fresh communication, has instructed Jenifer Bamuturaki and her top management officials to appear before the committee without fail on Wednesday August 20,2025.
“Let Bamuturaki come here with the former accounting officer and the task force as we advised last time and please inform her that failure to turn up, the committee will invoke stronger measures,” Hon. Segona vowed.
However, Shakira Lamar- the spokeswoman for the struggling National carrier says her boss didn’t deliberately snub the parliamentary committee attributing it to a mix up of programs.
