Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Staffs Win Medals After the Makerere University Marathon 2026

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) staff celebrated their successful completion of the Makerere University Marathon on Sunday, September 27, 2026 under the theme “Run the Hills for the Future”.

The staff members who started the activity from the Freedom Square proudly jubilated and showed off their medals at the finish point as they cut sweat to earn their finisher medals. Ms. Joan Kamwesigye Tushabe served as the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) team leader and representative during the build-up and launch activities for the Makerere University Marathon 2026.

According Kamwesigye, the 2026 event was dedicated to acquiring assistive technology and learning equipment for Makerere University’s Disability Support Centre. UCAA staff members actively participated across various race categories, proudly showing off their finisher medals at the finish line. “It’s our joy and pride for taking on this challenge with determination and what started with physical effort ended with smiles and celebrations at the finish point”, Kamwesigye said.

After completing the race, the UCAA staff proudly displayed their medals, marking the end of a demanding but rewarding experience. The medals represented the effort they had put into completing the marathon. The event gave the UCAA employees an opportunity to participate in an activity outside their normal workplace environment.

Together, they pushed themselves through the race and encouraged one another along the way. For some of the participants, the marathon was also a chance to test their endurance and personal fitness. Completing the course required commitment and determination, especially as the runners continued despite the physical demands of the race. The excitement became even greater when the UCAA team reached the finish point.

The staff members celebrated together, with their medals becoming a proud reminder of their participation in the major running event. Beyond the medals, the marathon created an opportunity for colleagues to bond and share an experience away from their usual professional duties.
