Uganda to split aviation regulator from airport operations by 2027

 Uganda Civil aviation authority plans to separate it’s regulatory and airport operation functions by mid next year 2027 in a move aimed at strengthening oversight, improving efficiency and eliminating conflict of interests.

According to the UCAA director general Fred Bamwesigye revealed that they are working on a plan to separate the regulatory from airport operations.

“We have been working on the project to separate the aspects of regulation and oversight from operations to avoid conflict of interests” Bmwesiye said.

He added that the restructuring would allow one entity to focus mainly on regulating the aviation industry while the other manage the operations of the airport.

He said that they are working on the legal flamework and once completed they would submit it to the cabinet and parliament to debate and approve it.
