VP Ssekandi Rallies More Chinese Investors

By Staff Writer

Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has called for more Chinese investments in the country.

Ssekandi made the call last week while opening the China (Jilin)-Uganda Economic and Trade Exchange meeting at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

Ssekandi said once there is investment in key sectors, there will be jobs for Ugandans and that the investment will act as import substitution.

He noted that China’s recent investment in infrastructure, Isimba and Karuma will significantly lead to low cost of electricity. Ssekandi said industrial parks employ over 80, 000 Ugandans urging Jilin to invest in the same.

Ssekandi was speaking shortly after Communist Party’s Buyin Chaola who described China and Uganda as friends.
