A cross section of NRM delegates and district chairpersons from Eastern region have spoken out on the forthcoming party polls. This news site understands that in their meetings that have been going on for some time now, they have unanimously vowed to return Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga for the position of 2nd National vice chairperson NRM (female).

“We cannot betray RT. Hon. Kadaga at this time after a long time of good service she has rendered to the party and NRM members from the East. Therefore, it is time to give her more support by voting her in the coming party election elections,” Said Mohamood Masaba, the Mbale district NRM chairman who doubles as Bugisu regional NRM chairperson, said, in an interview.
According to Masaba, all the district leaders and delegates from Bugisu have agreed to move in one direction, for the development and proper representation of the region.
On Thursday morning, while addressing a group of journalists, Bugisu cultural leader, Sir Bob Mushikoli, called upon his subjects to support Kadaga in her bid to retain all her positions in the party.
“I call upon all the Bamasaba wherever they are and, in Bugisu, in particular to support Rebecca Kadaga for the reelection” Mushikoli announced in a press conference.
His announcement came after a team from Capt. Mike Mukula led by his personal Aid Billy Manyifu visited the Omukuka to check on his health after he was discharged from Nakasero Hospital recently.
While in Sebei sub region, Hon. Chemaswet Abud told Second Opinion that Kadaga is the only name they have solely declared to support.
“We held a meeting recently and agreed that we go with Kadaga in her bid for NRM top seats and, therefore, we do not need any betrayal in our area. Kadaga has a reputable CV with a long time skilled experience to hold the top job and considering her background, a lawyer like her would help us a lot to interpret and streamline matters of the party at the top level where we need better services other than taking someone who does not understand how things move at the top party organ,” Said Chemaswet.
Capt. Mike Mukula who is on his tour in Eastern Region drumming for support so as to retain his seat as National Vice Chairperson NRM Eastern Region at one of the meetings in Soroti asked his region to support Kadaga so that party matters continue having a good guidance from experienced members.
“Support me, Kadaga and President Museveni then the rest you leave us to deliver,” he is quoted to have said.
This week, Kadaga formally showed interest in retaining the seat as she picked forms at NRM’s Plot 13, Kyadondo Road.
