We never lost any money in robbery at Nekesa’s home – NRM

By Nathan Ngobi

The nation’s ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM) has finally spoken out on the armed robbery that took place at Kyeitabya Zone Bukasa Parish (Muyenga) Makindye Division in the home of their own party national treasurer Ambassador Babra Nakesa Oundo and cleared the air that, as the party, they never lost any money.

The incident occurred on December 5, 2023. A section would later report that the NRM boss lost money in the robbery.

During a recent press  briefing, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga revealed that Babra Nekesa was robbed 41.5m while her husband Haji Sulaiman Lumolo Mafabi lost 2.2billion in the same robbery.

Speaking to this media house, the party director information and publicity Emmanuel Dombo revealed that the party never lost any money during and after the robbery, as speculation made rounds.

“What happened at the home of our party national treasurer Amb. Babra Nekesa Oundo was purely private, what she lost was hers and the husband, not the party, we never lost any money in that robbery,” Hon. Emmanuel Dombo told the Second Opinion.

He said that the NRM Party was not responsible for the money lost at her home and did not affect anywhere the running of the party.

“That was a private matter, but they are responsible for her security all over,” he said.

Dombo added that the party has never lost any coin in the hands of their treasurer Babra Nekesa Oundo.

He said that after the incident the party held a meeting, chaired by the party national chairman, President Yoweri Museveni, and Babra Nekesa herself openly briefed President Museveni of what transpired at her home the night of robbery.

Richard Todwong is the NRM Party Secretary General (SG) and the chief accounting authority at the party but he has never lost any money in the hands of the treasurer Nekesa Babra Oundo, added Dombo.

According to Dombo, there is no directive or investigations into Nekesa treasury role as alleged by her tormentors. If such a position was in place, then the SG and Haji Moses Kingongo could have been aware and addressed it to us, but nothing of the sort.

He said that Babra is clean at the NRM party head offices and fought so much to see that the party pays all office outstanding rent across the country and salaries for the staff were paid up to date.

Dombo disclosed that the current delay of some salaries is due to delay by the Government to release funds, and a circular is all over circulating to let people know.

He said that, ever since the Government increased the funds that they give to political parties, the money has been coming and put in proper use by Babra Nekesa Oundo.

He said that her tormentors are wasting time to fight her, because the fountain of honor was briefed by both Nekesa and his security intelligence of what transpired at her home.
