Yesterday, we broke a story of how top police officers had been arrested for soliciting money by a menace.
This, after Simon Peter Nkonge, Martin Kimbowa and Alan Sendegeya approached Vincent Luyinda the owner Kooki Tower threatening him with claims he sacrificed two people and buried them in the process of constructing the shopping center on Buganda Road, a mega building that sits opposite the Central Police Station, Kampala.
Laying a trap, Luyinda first reported the matter to Kabalagala Police Division on Monday and on Tuesday, he phoned his ‘victims’ to find a way of picking the money on Tuesday.
The Nkonge’s were demanding US$60, 000 for as to keep the ‘information’ to themselves.
However, upon reaching Luyinda’s offices at Kabalagala, they were instead put under arrest by mean looking men who were on standby, waiting.
Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrests last night.
“There are two of our officers whom we have arrested including a civilian for threatening violence and demanding menance,” KMP spokesman Patrick Onyango said.
The trio is currently in detention at Kabalagala Police Station.
