2021 POLLS: Security Breaks Subversive Gang Printing, Pinning “Muhoozi Project” Posters

Security has busted a group of people who have been planning to paint Kampala streets and the rest of the country with posters with “Muhoozi Project”, a move seen as an attempt to cause disharmony within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ahead of 2021 polls.

According to security chiefs who preferred to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the matter: “this is a subversive political move with an intention of creating confusion and disharmony within the National Resistance Movement and the country at large at the time when Uganda is heading to general elections in 2021.”

A security source told this reporter that intelligence started following up the matter after some of these photos first appeared pinned along Entebbe road. It is then that intelligence organs kicked-off hunt for characters behind them.

 “We started following up some leads which led us to the actual designers, printers and those who pinned them on Entebbe road,” a security source said.

Information and confessions obtained from the suspects interviewed indicates that the plan is to print more millions of these posters which will be pinned on every corner of Kampala Metropolitan areas and also in major towns and trading centers across the country.

It has also been established that some senior officials in government have been involved in financing this project by providing money for printing and paying labor to pin these posters across the country.

It is indicated that even the Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who appears in these photos has no knowledge about the publishers of these posters and their intentions.

Intelligence has also learnt that this is part of the large force which has been planning a series of subversive activities designed to accomplish its political objectives by influencing, dominating, or displacing individuals or groups who are well-placed so as to affect the decisions and actions of the government.

“At this time when the political environment in the country is ripe, such controversial pictures can easily generate civil unrest through demonstrations, strikes, and boycotts which may also provoke the government into a violent response thus causing national crisis which these individuals are badly targeting,” a security source noted.

It is further indicated that these individuals have been targeting to infiltrate security forces such that it can provide information about the government’s capabilities and how they plan to address the group’s activities.

“Infiltration can provide them an opportunity to plant false information, lead the government to misallocate resources, to steal funds, weapons, equipment, and other resources, and ultimately aid in weakening and delegitimizing the government,” the source added.

However, security says it has the group’s entire game plan and will nip it from its bud before the situation explodes.
