Post Bank has clarified that only contact centres have been closed, not branches.
The bank was Tuesday morning responding to our earlier story, ‘Post Bank Shuts Down 6 Branches’ in which we revealed, Bundibugyo, Bugembe, Sironko, Amuru, Lamwo and Maracha were the affected branches and that clients had been advised to use nearest branches in Fort Portal, Jinja, Mbale, Gulu, Kitgum and Arua respectively.
However, clarifying on our story, the bank’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Doreen Nyiramugisha, said only contact centres have been closed, to pave way to establishment of new branches; Forest Mall, Mukono, Rushere, Kamdini and Butogota which she said, await regulatory approval.
“Some contact centers are being modified to fully fledged branches. These include; Kyazanga, Ishaka and Ibanda that are at work stage. Rushere, Mukono, Kamdini and Butogota are before the BOU and we await their approval,” she said in a statement to this publication.
This, she noted, “is an attempt to extend financial solutions to our customers, in line with Post Bank’s vision to the market leader in financial inclusion.”
