The police are trying to ascertain the motive with which a South Sudan refugee residing at Belameling Refugee Settlement in Polarinya Sub-County in Obongi district sneaked a gun to the settlement.
The gun (rifle), number G-3 FMP 10/78 & rifle no. 741738 with 20 rounds of ammunition was April 1, 2020 recovered from the house of Daniel Inyani, 20, of Kuku tribe, South Sudan at Buari village, Block B -Belameling Refugee Settlement, Zone 1, Palorinya sub-county in Obongi district.
Preliminary findings, however, show that Nelson Mandela, 20, a Kuku by tribe, a South Sudanese attached to tank 10, Zone 2, Morobi Refugee Settlement in Itula sub-county, Obongi district received rifle No. 741738 from his uncle, Scopus Babu (now deceased) and brought it to Belameling Refugee Settlement in Palorinya where it was kept at Inyani’s house with the consent of Julius Loguya.
However, details of one other gun and the bullets remain his secret.
The police say three people have been arrested in connection to the matter while their statements have been recorded, scene visited, guns and bullets recovered Vide CRB 55/2020 and SD ref 09/01/04/2020.
