Ngora SACCOs get pigs worth 15m

Ngora ; Ten beneficiary saving and credit  struggling groups with over 150 members in Kobuin sub county, Ngora district  were given pigs worth 15million  shs.

The  beneficiaries  from Kobuin village said they were happy for the pigs because of their savings of shs. 800,000 so far could not make them buy enough pigs for the group.

As joy could not be hidden during the launch of the piggery project at Kobuin sub county headquarters.

Achayo’s message to beneficiaries delivered verbatim by her husband Charles Ekelot ,Achayo said people should always select enterprises within their means as president Museveni emphasizes for communities to engage in poultry, commercial farming and piggery for non-Muslims if they are to come out poverty bondage.

Ekelot said Achayo had gone to South Africa on assignment but asked him to deliver the pigs.

“As a family we are doing this because whenever we watch and listen to Museveni giving tips on how Ugandans should drop traditional peasant farming, in their area  they decided  to establish pilot projects  in  the villages for people to benefit and stop being beggars”,Ekelot said.

Ekelot said that just like the poultry in which she.600m was injected, even piggery we launch from Kobuin then roll out to other sub counties as well. 

“These large white sows give birth 0f 10 piglets’  twice a year and even if you sold each piglet at she.100, 000 the group will get shs.10 million”, Ekellot said. Dancan Musene the chairperson LC3 of kobuin Sub County whose speech was interrupted by jubilant beneficiaries who were chanting praises thanked Achayo for piloting the project from his area.

“Am happy all my ten parishes have benefited and am going to monitor and see that the  selected members are  the best for recognition as required by  Achayo”, Musene said.

John Stephen Ekoom the Ngora resident district commissioner who presided over the giveaway ceremony thanked the locals for voting wisely and asked them to do the same in 2026 for Achayo.

“Following the manner I am seeing projects flowing here you are going to middle income status and you don’t regret your votes. There are  constituencies where MPs no longer even pick calls from their agents, so count yourselves lucky”, Ekoom said.
