Mbale Radio Panelist in Secret Fundraising Drive to Oust Mbale City Mayor Namugali

 Mbale city:  As the political atmosphere gain ground ahead of the 2026 general election , the latest information  coming in from  Mbale city is that a  radio panellist and NUP’s key  mobiliser James Charles Buliba Wachemba is in a secret fundraising drive looking for funds  to oust Forum for democratic change’s (FDC) Kasim Namugali from  Mbale City mayoral seat.

Highly placed sources in Mbale City reveal that Wachemba is using his radio panellist techniques to sweet talk City tycoons and other powerful political brokers to financially support his political ambitions.

“I know that my current city mayor is not very popular in Mbale City and in FDC structures while I am. NUP party boss president Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi cum Bobi Wine is prepared to take Mbale city in the hands of NUP” Wachemba said.

He added that  for that matter mobilization to get funds for running for the Mbale city mayoral race have kickstarted with several area tycoons opposing the leadership of Namugali are  in high gear to contribute funds to support the campaigns.

However, this is not going well in the camp of sitting mayor Kassim  Namugali who are  accusing Wachemba of going around in the two divisions of  the City to decampaign  Namugali.

Namugali’s camp also accuses Wachemba of mobilizing locals  including  youths and boda boda supporters  both in  the NUP and FDC, mud-sliding their city mayor Namugali and misleading his supporters that he is not going to contest again.

Namugali’s team claim that Wachemba and his allies are  telling Mbale city voters lies  that their Mayor is soon going to join agricultural business instead of politics.

Meantime team  Namigali confirmed to the Second Opinion Publications  that their candidate is  coming back in 2026 and ready to face off with any challenger.

Namugali joined Mbale city politics in 2016 on an independent ticket and in 2021 he joined FDC party and secured a ticket from Mafabi Mutwalib Zandya,the former municipal mayor.

Namugali is one of the City mayors in Bugisu region who spent much of his campaign time traveling and asking for FDC and secretary general Nathan Nandala  votes in 2021 general elections.

He spent very few days campaigning for himself  to win  the  city mayor but overwhelmingly defeated all his opponents.

Other candidates so far in the same battle  include Vicente Magombe, former aspirant on NRM ticket ,Wodero Karim, Yahaya Mwanje,  former mayor Mutwalib Mafabi Zandya, among others.
