Main Purpose of the Job

The main purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of internal VAS apps solutions that meet MTN marketing requirements and specifications. The job holder will ensure efficient Operations & Maintenance of VAS software apps and that meet the agreed MTN KPI-s

Prime responsibilities of the positions:

• To develop and test products and applications, using any common programming languages, as per agreed specifications of requesting department
• Ensure optimization of existing VAS applications to meet company KPI-s and customer expectation
• Development of technical documents to be used for new products including technical specifications, technical manuals
• Derivation of trends in performance from statistics as well as from customer complaints so as to provide long term solutions to problems identified
• Research on new VAS solutions to ensure MTN uses the most advanced technologies and software practice methods
• Ensure L2 and L3 support for resolution of incidents related to the internally developed applications to ensure MTN NWG Remedy SLAs
• Support and lead agile and innovative products development of incidents the review of Business Processes (headcount, process optimization etc.), to drive efficiency gains to ensure at least 5% reduction in Divisional budget year-on-year.
• Serve MTN UG’s customers and provide solutions to improve the customer experience.
• Improve MTN UG’s Net Promoters Score
• Collaborate with other business units in the development of business models for use in MTN UG and develop measurement strategies to support ongoing strategy development and project optimization.
• Leads Architectural visioning and blueprinting across the value chain.
• Develops long-term in-house development strategy & ensures alignment of IT strategy and planning with company’s business goals.
• Translates business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change by implementing and improving key principles and models that describe the enterprises future state and enable its evolution.
• Continuously seek self-professional development to sharpen skills and capabilities in a versatile and evolving digital landscape.
• Coach and train the team of developers to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the department, awareness of set targets/requirements and regularly review their training needs.
• Identify training and development needs and manage skills enhancement programmes for the team to address knowledge gaps and enrich knowledge repository within the department.
• Matrix management across Information systems and business units
• Working with multiple vendors and business units
• Ensures that Coaching / mentoring programs and personal development plans are in place for the team
• Ensure that the architecture is relevant to the needs of the company, is accepted, implemented and adhered to throughout the Company.
• Ensure that needs driven research and development are initiated pro-actively
• Ensure that systems are in place to monitor resource utilization

The applicant must possess the following;

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Telecom Engineering or related field
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
• 3 years’ experience in product development in telecom environment
• 2 years’ experience in software development and maintenance of applications
• 2 years’ experience in UNIX shell scripting, database administration
