The National Coordinator, Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) has said government’s interventions towards development and in fight against corruption is meaningless without justice and democracy.
Maj. Gen. RTD. Gregory Mugisha Muntu was last week speaking in Luweero on the sidelines of his meeting with ANT national coordinators when he said: “The reason why we went to the bush was to restore democracy and justice and not to distribute seedlings.”
While commenting further the state of the nation, Muntu said the reason they went to the bush was way beyond distributing seedlings through Operation Wealth Creation.
Muntu also termed corruption and violence, state-inspired while he also had no kind words for his critics who say he is soft on NRM/Museveni.
“There are some people who say I am better suited to be a priest and not a politician because of exercising self-restraint towards the NRM. Self-restraint is a strategy towards building democratic principles and values. Without restraint, you may misuse power. This is because when you are in power you are in control of security forces and may use them to teargas those who provoke you,” he said.
Muntu is currently holding a countrywide tour of ANT.
