The National Resistant Movement Vice Chairperson, Norther Region, Sam Engola could be in deep trouble.
Latest is that Uganda Revenue Authority has named his hotel among non-tax compliant.
Lira Hotel LTD is among non-compliant taxpayers listed by the tax body.
“The taxpayers listed below have accumulated tax liabilities with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and are hereby notified to settle their respective liabilities within two weeks from the date of this notice,” part of URA’s notice reads, warning, “Failure to comply will attract enforcement action including prosecution.”
This is not the first time Lira Hotel is being named non-compliant.
Barely 5 years ago, the hotel based in Lira town was sealed off over arrears amounting to about Shs75 million.
HOUSE UP FOR SALE
Meanwhile, Engola’s house located at Ireda, Lira Municipality has been put up for sale.
This is according to a notice dated October 31, 2019.
“… We shall proceed to sell the under mentioned property and its developments under the mortgage Act Cap 229 unless the defaulter/mortgagor pays loan balances (principal and interest) our fees, and cost before the expiry of 30 days from the date of this publication,” a noticed published by Hot Pursuit Court Bailiffs and Auctioneers reads.
