For three days, the Chief Political Commissar in the Uganda Police Force, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba, was in Sheema.
Although it is not exactly clear why he was in the district, reports indicate rising crime in the area.
In a post on X, AIGP Bamunooba confirmed a meeting in Sheema.
“Today, I met with officers in Sheema District in a continued drive to step up community policing and mobilization efforts,” he posted on X on Friday.
While meeting with local leaders and security stakeholders, AIGP Bamunoba stressed that curbing the growing insecurity will require a stronger police presence through regular patrols, coupled with enhanced intelligence gathering to trace the roots of criminal activity and identify those involved.
He, therefore, urged officers to be more in the grassroots and promote a community-based policing approach so as to easily identify criminals.
