Airtel Uganda boss resigns

Airtel Uganda Managing Director, VG Somasekhar has resigned and returned to India, where he will work at the headquarters of the parent company.

In an email, Raghunath Venkateswarlu Mandava the Airtel Africa CEO, said Somasekhar, who joined Airtel in 2010 and was instrumental in rolling out the 4G, wanted to return home.

“VG Somasekhar (Soma), Managing Director of Airtel Uganda Limited has expressed his desire to move to India. Soma will be associated with the Bharti Airtel Group on his return to India,” the emails read in part.

In 2014, Soma, as he is commonly called, resigned from Airtel, only to bounce back in 2017.
