BBC’s Allan Kasujja rewards Brian Masole for saving Musician Iryn Irene Namubiru

Former Capital FM presenter who now works with the BCC, Allan Kasujja, has pledged shs500, 000 as next semester’s tuition fees for Brian Masole, the Kampala International University (KIU) student who saved musician Iryn Namubiru from drowning after a boat carrying revelers capsized in Lake Victoria, leaving dozens dead.

Appreciating Masole for his good heart, Kasujja wrote; “… let’s remind Brian that good deeds pay.” He pledged Shs500, 000 as fees for the student. Namubiru has promised to deliver the cash to heroic Masole who has captured the attention of both the traditional and social media.

Songstress Namubiru on Tuesday was all praises on social media for Masole who saved her life and a few others. “He went back to the lake 3 times until there were no other people alive,” the singer said in her Facebook post.

Masole and other fellow students had hired their boat to go have fun on the nearby Islands when the boat on which Namubiru and others capsized, causing panic among revelers who immediately started calling for help as they drowned on Saturday evening. “When they heard and saw our boat capsizing, he quickly took his friends ashore and cane to rescue us,” she said yesterday.
“He heard my distress calls for help as I saw other boats passing us by, saw the light of my phone that I kept waving up and came right to me. He asked me for the phone, bag and then pulled me in. Then he tried to pull the lady who came grabbing on my hand and life jacket almost drowning me,” Irene who once had a French fiancé said.

Some of the posts on Facebook are urging Namubiru to marry the student, saying she now lives because of him. Namubiru is said to be single at the moment.
