By Lawrence Okwakol

Bukedea: Majority of the former beneficiaries of Government programs meant to change communities from subsistence agriculture to middle income status but have no evidence of progress will miss out on Parish Development Model PDM program in Bukedea district.

This is  directive was  pronounced  by  the Bukedea district  LCV chairperson Moses Olemukan  who  instructed  all the parish development model implementers never to consider the beneficiaries of the previous Government programs because they misused their opportunities  yet everyone needed to benefitAlthough Sarah Akurut from Oluwa village in Kolir sub county objected to Olemukan’s move and asked to pardon them because they have learnt lessons.

Olemukan maintained his position when he  made the remarks at Rock View village in Kolir sub county during the handover ceremony of 20 hand pump boreholes by Uganda breweries limited  director Andrew Kilonzo to  those who got youth livelihood, emyooga,Uganda women entrepreneurship, community driven development.

“Issues of development are not taken biblically that the number of times you sin deserve the same forgiveness.Let the new category be identified for the pillar of financial inclusion the rest will benefit from infrastructure development but not cash”, Olemukan said.

He thanked Anita Annet Among the speaker of parliament, for ejecting over 640 million to 128 enterprises in Kamutur, Kolir and Aminit sub counties .

“Those who benefited from Anita foundation but have never benefited from a Government program should be considered. My thinking let others also be given chance but since  PDM has come to stay they will also be brought on board”, Olemukan said.

However,. Zipporah Akol the political assistant to Among said all those who got the shs.5 million are being monitored.

“We handed each group  shs. 5 million  with terms and conditions attached “Akol said.

Sam Malinga of Abilaep village in Kamutur sub county disagreed with Olemukans idea saying the beneficiaries of the previous programs were not thoroughly sensitized like it’s happening with parish development model.

“Let people access the funds with no strings attached then give an evaluation after three years”Malinga said.

UBL MD handing over the borehole to the community.

Peter Emuget from Nyakoi village in Kamutur sub county said leaders taking advantage of burial and spend five minutes telling mourners about PDM is wastage of time.

Emuget said people who are bereaved need counseling  for losing  their beloved ones  but  not Government programs, so I challenge leaders to organize meeting and people should freely interact with them.
