MBALE: When the electoral commission (EC) released the road map for 2026 general election, then recently NRM party outed the same for their internal party election, several aspirants have since expressed interest to vie for various elective positions giving many incumbent MPs sleepless political nights and this time around at Second Opinion we authoritatively bring you part of our list of MPs who are at the verge of their political demise from Bugisu sub region as profiled below:-
Richard Wanda.
He is the current member of parliament for Bungokho central county in Mbale district who hails from Nabumali town council that was curved off from Nyondo and Busoba sub counties in Mbale district.

The chances to retain his seat diminish day by day as strong contenders from the NRM party have come up to grab the position from his hands.
Among them is former Industrial Division town clerk Wambede Robert aka Kotsaa who comes from Nanyonyi upper village, Bumageni parish in Bungokho sub county.

Wambede is a senior NRM mobiliser for a long time who used to do all the ground mobilisation work for former Bungokho south MP Werike Micheal Kafabusa .
Wambede who holds a masters of public administration from Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) believes his people have not benefited from most of the Government programs since they lack proper information from stakeholders who could provide them.
“My people have been left behind, lack mobilisation to participate and access Government programs, I want to educate them on their rights in matters of development so that they do not think that development is for only those in urban areas” Wambede intimated to us.
He said that he will take part in the NRM primaries and ensure he wins and be on the general election ballot paper come 2026 elections.
According to Wambede he faced political suffering when he declared his interest to unseat Richard Wanda, a section of people at the Mbale Industrial division teamed up to fight him and lost the job.
“They teamed up and flashed me out of the town clerk job on the grounds that I was aging, absconding on duty and many other allegations which were not true but politically motivated” Added Wambede.
He vowed to politically beat whoever risks to cross his way to victory come the right time.
The former Bungokho south member of parliament who was state minister for housing Micheal Werishe Kafabusa had earlier told close allies that he could not come back in the race however, reports from the Imbalu land disclose that his political assistant Watamba Steven is ever on his neck asking him to return to the race.
Werike had told some people that he would back one of his long-time mobilizers to replace him.
The current Mayor Mbale Industrial city division Mohamood Masaba Mutenyo is also gunning for Richard Wanda’s slot , others are Mukwana Eric Stephen the former Inzu Ya Masaba deputy prime minister in charge of communications, Chris Mafabi Omir the current chairperson LC 3 Bungokho Sub County, Mauso Andrew a strong businessman and clearing agent.
Richard Wanda is a chairperson of Bugisu parliamentary Caucus but due to the heated political pressure at home he does not settle to attend on issues affecting the caucus.
Nyasio Wamakuyu Mudimi.
He represents Elgon County in Bulambuli district on NRM ticket.
During the last election, Mudimi trounced his closest opponent Emmanuel Sabunyo Masibay the FDC dude and Nathan Nandala Mafabi’s strong ally.

Although he is serving his 5th term in parliament Mudimi has sleepless nights as his usual and strong challenger Sabunyo traverses the constituency attending to problems and other programs affecting the locals, he also attends burials in every village to create more popularity.
We have also established other contenders, Moses Massa,a 30 year old new political entrant and Charles Madibo Wagidoso whose political impact has since remained visible on social media only.
Sezi Wambede Kizangi Massa.
He is the incumbent member of parliament for Northern city division in Mbale city serving his first term as area legislator when Mbale Municipality was alleviated to a city. Wambedde was elected to parliament on an NRM ticket in the last election when he defeated former legislator and namesake Gershom Sizomu Wambedde.
Political analysts express fear that Sezi Wambedde could be serving his last term following the declaration threats by four senior and strong on ground politicians to unseat him come 2026 elections.
Among those conducting grassroots mobilisation to politically throw away Sezi Wambedde includes his former opponent turned enemy Ivan Masaba from the national unity platform (NUP), Isma Mukankadi Walujo and Paul Umru Nangoli, the RDC Kumi district Hudu Hussein.
Reports however indicate that Mukankadi is a non serious player in this game while the serious contenders here are Nangoli Paul Umar and Hudu Hussein.
Both Paul Umru Nangoli and RDC Hussein Huddu are from NRM but it is very clear that they are all up to the general election irrespective of the party primary competition.

Hudu, with a clear backing from the government, is also rated to be having a huge political support from the NRM party and the local people.
It should also be recalled that Hussein Hudu was Mbabazi’s blue eyed boy around 2013 to 2016 when he was on the forefront of the mobilisation team of the former prime minister.
Paul Umar Nangoli who hails from Northern city Division is a prominent political opponent who declared a do or die political battle to remove Sezi from the August house.
It should be noted that both RDC Hudu,Ex MP Gershom Sizomu Wambedde,Former RDC Paul Umru Nangoli ,Ivan Masaba among others are all determined to show MP Sezi parliamentary exit come rain or sunshine.
Dr. Faith John Magolo.
He is the incumbent Member of Parliament for Bungokho North in Mbale district. Magolo came to political limelight following his church work when he worked with Uganda Christian university (UCU) as chairman land board Mbale district.

He later showed interest to contest for the seat and took part in participating in NRM primaries where he lost to Abdallah Wambede who faced a set back after he had not resigned his Government job as a headteacher which is a requirement by law for someone taking part in an elective politics.
Since Magolo was a second runner in the NRM primary elections, the party decided and gave him the NRM ticket where later he was elected member of parliament for Bungokho North constituency.
However, so far, some eleven usual opponents have lined up to grab his seat.
They include Yahaya Gudoi Wojje whom he mercilessly trounced in the last elections, other new entrants are Watsemba Alex,Mafabi Issa,Musa Masette,Wazemba Hussein,Gizamba Aliyi of FDC, Latifu Magolo,Tito Nagwere,Fred Gizamba, Shafiga Wanyenya,Abudallah Naleka,a dependant to the first family’s son Muhoozi project of PLU .
Naleka serves as chairperson NRM Bufumbo and Jewa sub counties who have Since declared interest to contest against Dr Faith Magolo.
It is not clear whether Wojje is being fronted and backed by FDC Secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi but he has since distanced himself from the claim describing it as malicious.
