The Uganda Revenue Authority’s (URA) flagship tax education campaign, BUZZA KAMISONA, is recording impressive traction on TikTok, with a recently posted video surpassing 70,000 views and prompting more than 100 queries from taxpayers.
The spike in interaction highlights how social media is becoming a key tool in simplifying tax matters and engaging a younger, digitally savvy public. URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi says the strong online response shows tax education must meet citizens on platforms they already use.
“Tax education is consistent, it never stops, and it has to be done in mediums the taxpayer understands and uses,” he said, encouraging taxpayers to keep submitting questions via URA’s TikTok handle, @URAUganda. BUZZA KAMISONA currently airs on UBC, Bukedde and New Vision, and URA plans to scale it up through regional radio stations, community barazas and broader digital channels to reach more taxpayers nationwide.
