Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has denied reports that 400 million shillings was used by the judiciary to construct two toilets, one at his home and the other at the Entebbe magistrate’s court in Wakiso district.
Speaking at a ceremony where former Judiciary Secretary Expedito Kagole Kivumbi handed over office to his successor and immediate former PS in the gender ministry Pius Bigirimana, Katureebe said the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) had erred in its 2017/28 report, in respect to the construction of the two toilets.
According to Katureebe, the report, which also indicated that the judiciary had misappropriated Shs34 billion, tarnished the image of his office.
Kagole Kivumbi was last week relieved of his duties after he failed to convince Parliament that appropriations to his ministry were spent in accordance to the demands made during the budgeting process.
