The Directorate of Public Prosecutions has confirmed authenticity of the document making rounds on social media highlighting case drop against Aidah Nantaba.
“This case was privately instituted but taken over by the DPP. The law provides in cases of withdrawal of privately instituted criminal matters, that consent of court must be sought,” a statement dated September 10, 2019 signed by Senior Assistant Director Public Prosecution, Jane Okuo Kajuga said.
This has however attracted the attention of Muwada & CO. Advocates, lawyers of slain Ronald Ssebulime.
“The family of the late Sebulime Ronald and the Complinant on court record (our clients) take exception and are saddened by the DPP’s decision to withdraw criminal case number AA-0153-2019. As we explore alternative legal and judicial remedies, the family jointly with the complainant will express their take on the matter and next course of action tomorrow..” part of the statement authored by Muwada & CO. Advocates reads.
Kajuga however said the Office of the Director Public Prosecutions is committed to performing its functions within the law.
