EC Boss Byabakama Clears  Bobi Wine, Nandala Mafabi, Yoweri Museveni and Two others  for Presidential Nominations Amidst NUP’s Supporter Signatures controversy:

Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi the chairman electoral commission (EC) finally cleared opposition leader National Unity Platform (NUP)’s president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine   and FDC’s presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi to be nominated for presidential election amidst NUP’s controversy over support signatures.

 EC Boss Simon Byabakama issued a clearance certificate to Bob Wine on 22nd September 2025 which he reportedly signed on 19th September 2025 a Friday a day on which the same electoral body rejected the support signatures of Bobi Wine sending shocking waves to members of the public especially the NUP supporters.

“This is to certify that Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert of the national unity platform political party /organisation has submitted lists of supporters as a candidate for the presidential election 2026 and electoral commission has verified at least 100  supporters from each of aleast two thirds of all districts in Uganda and has therefore complied with section 10(1) (B) and 10(3) of the presidential elections act cap (177)” read parts of the signed certificate to Kyagulanyi Robert by Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi .

Accordingly, the certificate was signed the same day when the supporter signatures were rejected by the EC raising controversy over the independence, motives or quality of the Uganda’s electoral body.

Kyagulanyi will be nominated on 24th Wednesday 2025 at 2:00PM after Nandala Mafabi same day at 10:00AM .

However, Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert went of his social handle and posted that the motive of the EC was to avoid him being nominated same day with president Museveni but used a delaying method to look for an excuse to shift the nomination date to another day.

“As predicted by many Ugandans, the ridiculous claims about us not submitting enough signatures were intended to push our date of nomination. The cowardly regime did not want us to be nominated on the same day as Museveni!

Well, they just gave us our certificate confirming that we have submitted the signatures but pushed our nomination from Tuesday 23rd to Wednesday 24th September at 2:00pm! This is despite the fact that we had written to them booking Tuesday, 10:00am! Pushing it to 2:00pm is clearly intended to frustrate our plans to have two rallies because the first one was meant to begin at midday.

Since we know how they normally behave, as soon as they started those stories, we moved ahead of them and booked both Katwe Grounds and Kaala Playground (Nateete) for both dates! Nothing will stop the revolutionary cause!

 As predicted, they have cancelled our rally at Katwe and only cleared Nateete! That’s why they had to push our nomination to 2:00pm so that we do only one event. REGARDLESS, WE SHALL MEET AND SPEAK TO OUR PEOPLE. LET’S ALL MEET AT KAALA PLAYGROUND, NATEETE ON WEDNESDAY!”

 Bobi Wine’s post  follows a police letter banning him from addressing a political rally at Katwe on ground that the place is near a market and a railway crossing yet Natete ground is safer and easier to manage by the security.

Meantime the  electoral commission (EC) cleared  the Forum for Democratic Change Flag bearer Nathan Nandala Mafabi with a certificate of clearance for his nomination on a presidential slot.

Nandala who was   the first opposition leader to be cleared by the electoral commission is to be nominated on Wednesday 24 th September 2025 at exactly 10:00am.

According to the party’s deputy president, Centenary Robert after successfully submitting all the requirements for

presidential nominees, the E.C chairperson cleared Mafabi  to be nominated at  Lweza EC premises on 24th September 2025 at 10:00AM.

“Am happy to announce that after successfully submitting all the requirements as a presidential nominee, here is our candidate’s nomination clearance certificate duly signed by the Electoral commission chairperson and he is to be nominated on Wednesday 24 th September, 2025”, Hon.

Centenary said.

He added that Mr. Mafabi is to hold a public rally in Butabika at Kampala Road playground in Luzira in Nakawa division where he is to mobilize the mass for support under the theme “fixing the economy,

money in the pockets.

“We call upon our people to come and listen to the message of hope as Hon. Nandala speaks to the nation because you’re all aware that FDC has the most competent presidential candidate under the circumstances to fix the financial and economic challenges that have been faced by Ugandans”, Centenary added.

However, by press time the EC had cleared only five (5) presidential candidates out of 38 who had picked the nomination forms and expressed interest.

Those who were cleared  include president Yoweri Museveni the incumbent and NRM flag bearer, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine the NUP party president, Nathan Nandala Mafabi for FDC , Robert Kasibante of National peasants’ party and Joseph Elton Mabirizi of conservative party.

EC with start with nominating president Yoweri Museveni followed by  Robert Kasibante and later in the day they would nominate Joseph Elton Mabirizi and then on Wednesday the EC will nominate Nathan Nandala Mafabi and Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu .
