“Enanga Covering Up on MP Zzaake’s Health Situation”- Lawyers

Lawyers representing jailed Mityana municipality MP Francis Zzaake Butebi have described as false utterances by police publicist Fred Enanga regarding the health situation of their client. According to one the lawyers also Jinja municipality East MP Paul Mwiru, the MP’s health is in bad shape the reason he was admitted to the sophisticated Iran-Uganda hospital.He says this has since been confirmed by the three doctors who examined him and ‘confirmed’ that the MP was badly tortured resulting into his admission for medical attention.Mwiru challenged all those disputing this fact to also visit the member who is just a few kilometers away from the city center at Naguru hospital to find out the truth.”People should stop peddling false information. Hon Zzaake is at Iran-Uganda Hospital less than 3KM from the City Center; nothing stops you from finding out from the Hospital. If that statement is from Enanga then he is a disgrace to this Country. Hon Zzaake was examined by three Doctors namely Dr Emmanuel Nuwamanya the Police Doctor, Dr Kato the Hospital Doctor and Dr Ssekitoleko Hon Zzaake’s Doctor who all agreed that Hon Zzaake was tortured. That information is contained in police form 24 on police file” he says. He however, alleged that when they told the Police doctor to produce a report acknowledging his colleagues, he declined.”Today (last night) we agreed that Dr Kato and Dr Ssekitoleko issue a joint report attesting to what they found out when he was taken to the said hospital. We expect it (report) by Monday. It’s very regrettable that the police using Enanga despite engaging in human rights violations to distort facts because you want to go away with it. No wonder after torturing him to death level,  instructions were given that no one should access him without approval from above. This in itself is continued violation of his rights. The sky may be the limit in violation of people’s rights and covered up by the Enanga’s who peddle lies but it should not extend to people’s lives” he warned, adding that at a particular point in time the perpetrators of such will ‘pay for it’. Enanga yesterday informed the nation that Zzaake is in a stable condition contrary to social media reports that he had died.”He has not been poisoned or had his ribs broken like some people are saying. He is in good condition contrary to reports that he is dead ”   Enanga said Zzaake’s troubles began after he reportedly violated the SOPs on dealing with COVID-19. Apparently, the defiant member subscribing to opposition People Power movement led by Bobi Wine was nabbed dishing out food to hungry people in Mityana contrary to the presidential directives. Museveni recently warned anyone against giving out food fearing that this would violate the principle of social distancing among others. He decreed that whoever is found doing this must be arrested and charged with attempted murder or at worst scenarios murder in case someone involved dies of COVID-19.Since Zzaake’s arrest, some people tried to demonstrate demanding his release but were handled by security. However, food distribution SOPs seem to be continuing to be violated as other MPs are seen giving out food to hungry voters. This comes at a time when several LC1s are currently being attacked by people demanding food from government. The police has also recently reported a surge in domestic Viola cases as a result of on quarantine which has limited families’ ability to fend for themselves.
