The police at the Central Police Station, Kisoro have kicked off hunt for two men who accessed a home in Gahuru village, Rutare Parish, Chahi sub county before strangling to death a 70-year-old woman in the area.
The gruesome incident in which Vastine Nyirabusaga was killed happened at 1am Wednesday morning.
Her 11-year-old granddaughter (name withheld) witnessed the killing.
The little girl told neighbors that two people with faces wrapped in pieces of cloth broke into the house late in the night before grabbing her grandmother.
“She screamed and went silent,” she told neighbors.
Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident.
Maate said the scene was visited and key leads gathered.
By press time, Nyirabusaga’s body was still at Kisoro Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
