The police at the Central Police Station in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a security guard ‘released’ bullets, killing one person while another was left injured.
Caleb Muhwezi who is attached to Swat Security Company was on guard at Pioneer Mall when he ‘accidentally’ shot dead Brenda Bukoye.
The same scuffle saw Anita Nanyonjo, a student at Kampala University wounded. She is currently admitted at Mulago Hospital in critical condition.
Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.
He said Muhwezi is in custody to help in investigation. His weapon, Owoyesigyire said, has been recovered.
The suspect is yet to record statement.
A murder charge Vide SD Ref 81/23/01/2019 has been preferred against him.
