I would like to extend my warm congratulations to my Muslims friends, brothers and sisters who have so far emerged victorious in the just concluded parliamentary and local government elections.
There has been talk of an NUP wave, but I can proudly also talk of a Muslim wave because of the record number of Muslims who have emerged victorious. With 50 Muslim Members of Parliament in the 11th Parliament of Uganda, I can not hide my happiness. I also can’t wait to see how Muslims will perform in the remaining local council elections; but so far so good.
My humble appeal to the newly elected Muslim representatives is that, do not antagonize, but organize; you were elected to serve not to eat; remember Allah because you wouldn’t have won without His blessings.
You have acquired positions of power; positions where decisions are made. If you unite and put service before self interests, you will move mountains, even when you are few.
The time for lamenting is now behind us. It is now time to use your positions of power for the good of your electorate, your country and of course the Ummah.
I wish you the best of luck in your service.
