I’ll serve Museveni’s interest and the nation – Galiwango

The newly appointed High Commissioner to Uganda’s High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr. Hassan Waswa Galiwango, has pledged to serve the interest of President Yoweri Museveni and that of the nation.

On Monday, it emerged, President Yoweri Museveni appointed former NRM director, Administration and Finance /mobilization Dr.  Galiwango as High commissioner to Kenya replacing Phoebe Otaala who earlier resigned the position to participate in elective politics.

Speaking to this news site following his appointment, Galiwango pledged total commitment to the party and Uganda.

“I will serve the interest of the appointing authority. If he appoints then you cannot refuse but serve his interest and that of the nation. I am happy getting back to work with a new role in nation building,” Galiwango told this news site.

Dr. Galiwango is husband of Mbale District woman MP, Connie Galiwango, who lost to Lydia Wanyoto in the recently concluded NRM primaries for Mbale city woman MP slot.

Her husband, Galiwango, is one of the loyal NRM mobiliser and the longest serving director mass mobilization, administration and finance before he was dropped recently.

Upon his appointment, several people stormed social media, congratulating him. They urged him not to forget Bugisu as he heads to Nairobi.

David Mafabi of PML daily and former journalist with Daily monitor wrote on his wall: “Cong’s Muko. This is what i have been talking about and I expected it especially when the political fights continued against your wife, i knew they would separate you in order to fight one person. Wish you the best but don’t take it for granted, you might stay there shortly and then dropped. Look at what happened to Mr Wamimbi [Former Umukukha”.

 While Josua Magona Omulambuli said: “Congratulations upon your new appointment as Uganda’s special envoy to Nairobi popularly known to us the local people as ‘Ambassador’ it’s a matter of time. We head for double success.”

Bbubi Fooz,i  a prominent lawyer and politician in Kampala said Galiwango appointment means that the ruling party and appointing authority still have interest in him. He said Galiwango deserved the deployment.

“Let him go and serve the country. It is a blessing for all of us,” Foozi said.
