The Central Police Station, Mubende has recorded death by suffocation of seven children.
The incident happened at Rwenkabi village, Kitenga Sub country in Mubende District.
Scene of crime officers say the dead shared a tent with a burning charcoal stove under a tent.
They suspect they died of suffocation.
The deceased have been identified as Noor Nakate, 12, Raum Nabakoza, 10, Marriam Mbabazi, 10, Dirisa Sserugo, 6, Abdallah Kakoza, 05, Asiya Nasazi, 3 and Bashira Namata, 1.5.
Sources say only a 14-year old survived. She has been identified as Marina Nakyanzi. Nakyanzi is now in a stable condition.
Accordingly to her, the tent was hired and erected by her father, Mohammad Kalisa, on their land currently under cultivation.
However, as it drizzled, they entered the tent at 7pm where fire had been set, for shelter and warmth. However, a phone call announcing the incident came in at 1am.
The police say bodies have been conveyed to the hospital mortuary for postmortem Vide SD REF: 06/20/10/2020.
