Uganda Prisons Service

Post: Warders & Wardresses

The Commissioner general of Prisons informs the general public that recruitment of Recruits Warders/Wardresses into the Uganda Prisons Service shall take place throughout the country from July 24, 2019 to July 26, 2019 at all the 15 regional prisons headquarters at Kabale, Mbarara, Masaka, Kampala, Mukono, Jinja, Mbale, Soroti, Moroto, Lira, Guu, Arua, Masindi, Fort Portal and Mubende.

Qualification: Must be aged 18 – 30 and in possession of ‘O’ level Certificates with at least 4 credits including one in English and a pass in Mathematics. University Graduates and diploma holders should not apply. You must be physically fit and must come with recommendation letter from LCI, LCII and LCIII Chairpersons of district of origin.

Requirements: Handwritten application addressed to the Commissioner General of Prisons; with original academic papers and 03 photocopies of certificates/result slips, 03 most recent passport size photographs, national Citizenship Identity Card and ID of former school. Be ready to undergo both oral and written interviews, undergo medical examination on reporting for training to confirm suitability to undergo rigorous physical training. All intending candidates are advised to report at the designated recruitment centers on the dates indicated. Successful applicants should be ready to undergo a minimum of 9 months of Basic Prisons Officer’s Training Course. Effective appointment into the service is subject to successful completion of the training.

War Child Canada

1.       Project Manager – Education (02 slots)

Duty station: Adjumani, with regular field work travel

Qualification: Degree or equivalent qualification in Education, Social Studies or related discipline. At least 5 years of project management experience in a similar or related field/sector.

2.       Communication Officer

Duty station: Kampala, with regular field travel.

Qualification/Experience: University degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies or related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience of progressively responsible and relevant experience working in the field of communication or public relations. Experience of working in various media formats, including, photos, audio, video, print and web. Proven experience in managing digital communication and social media.
