KAMPALA: Six men transported by cargo truck arrested for opening shops

A joint security team has Friday arrested six people for opening their shops at Nasser Road in Kampala, an act akin Presidential directives banning non-food business operations for 14 days.

The suspects are; Achileo Yisufu, Kizito Pascal, Byamusha Wiliam, Matovu Alex , Engemu William and Kagoro Meddi.

Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed their arrest.

“We learnt that the six were transported in a lorry box body up to Nasser Road alongside others who took off when they saw security officers. Security got information about their defiance, a team was dispatched to deal with them,” KMP Spokesman Patrick Onyango said.

They are currently detained at CPS Kampala awaiting a charge under section 117 of the Penal Code Act.
