A Joint Security Team has Friday afternoon impounded two ambulances that were being used to ferry passengers to Kanungu.
The ambulances, registration numbers; UAB 355Z and UAH 832W, all land cruisers belonging to Revival Fire Ministries based United Kingdom, were impounded at Wandegeya check point after a tip off by intelligence.
One of the drivers has been arrested and identified as David Sserukenya.
The second driver fled.
According to security sources, one of the two ambulances had four passengers.
On interrogation, the passengers alleged that they had paid the drivers Shs100,000 each so that they could be transported to Kanungu from Katanga, a suburb of Kampala.
The ambulances had bags of rice, sugar, matooke and other items
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident, saying Sserukaya is being held at Wandegeya Police Station.
