Kyaligonza Fails to honor court summon

Rtd Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza was expected to appear before Mukono Chief Magistrates Court Wednesday to plead to the criminal charges slapped against him.

He was to appear with his bodyguards,  Cpl Peter Bushindiki and Private John Robert Okurut after an alleged assault on traffic police officer Sgt. Esther Namaganda are expected in court.

However, by press time, Kyaligonza, Uganda’s ambassador to Burundi was yet to show up in court.

Only their victim (Namaganda), accompanied by her lawyer was present.

“Rtd Maj Gen Kyaligonza on February 24 at Seeta Trading Centre in Mukono District, unlawfully assaulted Sgt. Esther Namaganda, thereby causing her actual bodily harm,” Particular of the offense issued last week reads.

By press time, we were yet to verify what will be next for Kyaligonza and his guards.
