Labor Day fete: IGP, DIGP, CDF, CGP no show as Bobi Wine returns to court

Top security chiefs are not part of Labor Day commemoration now on-going at Patongo Akwee Primary School playground in Agago district.

Well-placed sources say the Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola and his deputy, Maj. Gen. Muzeyi Sabiiti are not in attendance.

Insiders say the pair are being represented by the Director in charge Human Resources and Administration, AIGP Moses Balimwoyo.

The Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. David Muhoozi is equally not in attendance. He is being represented by his deputy, Lt. Gen. Wilson Mbadi.

Commissioner General of prisons (CGP), Dr. Johnson Byabashaija who is as well absent is being represented by David Nsalasatta who is the Director of Prisons.

By press time, President Yoweri Museveni was yet to arrive at the venue.

Sources however say, the president, being the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, he could be engaging his right-hand security men on the security situation in the country.

We could not however verify claims of any meetings.

But, should they be locked up in a meeting, key on the agenda is undoubtedly, Bobi Wine and the ‘insecurity’ that he (Bobi Wine) brings to the city through riots.

Bobi Wine, real name, Robert Kyagulanyi, the Kydaondo East MP is currently jailed at Luzira Prison after he was charged with disobedience of statutory duty over mobile money tax protest he allegedly staged in July 2018.

He is expected back in court tomorrow. Sources say security chiefs could be brainstorming on how to handle the situation tomorrow, aware that there were riots in the city shortly after the lawmaker was remanded.

Riots were reported in some parts of the city suburbs Tuesday.
