Locusts’ Control Budget Swells To Shs11bn

The ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries is in a state of serious panic after it emerged that Locusts from neighboring Kenya are about to reach the Uganda border.

Latest updates about this imminent disaster on Uganda’s vegetation indicate that the locusts were by yesterday only 166km away from the Ugandan border particularly Karamoja.

The ministry has since warned the public about this impending invasion on the country’s vegetation and urged the population to stock more food to avoid food shortage when the disastrous pests finally enter Uganda.

The same ministry which had earlier on asked for shs5bn budget in preparation to control the locusts has now increased the budget to shs11bn.
