Rwene Police Station located at Nyakabungo, Rwene Parish, Buhara Sub-County in Kabale district has recorded a case of suicide Vide SD Ref 06/10/05/20.
This, sources say, followed a request by his wife for Shs1, 000 to buy salt.
Investigators say the incident in which Denis Michael Owamani, 30, hanged himself dead happened 7:20pm May 10, 2020.
“Preliminary inquiries indicate that before the deceased committed suicide, the wife had requested for salt and that’s when the deceased threatened to kill himself,” a source at Rwene Police Station told this news site.
Regional Police spokesman Elly Matte confirmed the incident saying Owamani killed himself after his wife left for the market.
“That when the wife left home, on coming back she found a photo of his husband with a crossed mark on it, which prompted her to rush and inform the parents of the deceased who came and did a joint search, that led them to the deceased hanging on a rope in his sitting room,” Matte said.
Matte said a team of investigators visited the scene and that the body was examined by the police surgeon and postmortem done to that effect.
