Mbale man killed in hit and run accident

By George Mangula

A rider believed to be a youth was knocked dead in the early morning hours of Tuesday by a vehicle, only a few metres from  Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) checkpoint  on Tororo Road in Mbale City.

Unconfirmed reports say the victim was knocked by a trailer that cannot be traced for now. But some blamed URA security personnel for not rushing to help the victim as he bled to death, the vehicle having crushed one of his arms on top of sustaining other bodily injuries.

The victim’s body has been taken to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for post mortem to establish the cause of his death.

Meanwhile the quest to find his relatives and friends is on-going. He did have any identification document on him.

The narrowness and potholes make Mbale-Tororo Road to be dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians, even though the government plans to redo the road that was badly built by Dot Services.
