Men arrested for killing herdsman, stealing 24 heads of cattle worth Shs36m

KAJJANSI: The police are holding two people believed to have had a hand in stealing 24 heads of cattle.

Nanjo Kamu and Isaac Edema, currently detained at Kajjansi Police Station, are said to have stolen cattle belonging to businessman, Simon Ssekayi, a resident of resident of Kitovu, Kitonde Parish, Ssisa Subcounty, Wakiso District.

Investigators say the suspects murdered the cattle keeper named Kamugisha before making away with the animals on December 3, 2019.

However, they were intercepted at Kikajo, and arrested.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango confirmed arrests.

“On interrogation, the suspects revealed to have stolen the animals from Kitovu. They also confirmed killing the herdsman. They then led our officers to the scene where they murdered Kamugisha. Our team recovered the body, scene examined and body taken to City mortuary for postmortem.” Onyango said, confirming the offenses as murder and theft.
