Mengo SS has held a high-level marathon seeking to raise funds for the construction of their 9 storied signature dining hall complex project which would boost the learning environment for this oldest school in the country.

The minister for Kampala Metropolitan affairs Hajjati Minsa Kabanda who was chief guest expressed her profound gratitude after seeing friends, old and current boys and girls as well as well-wishers joining hands to support the school’s efforts of raising the necessary funds to accomplish the project.
Kabanda pledged 6m towards the project and congratulated the school’s leadership for taking the path of expanding, renovating and modernizing this oldest school in the country which development would improve the learning environment of the students.

The school chairperson board of governors Robina Kyeyune thanked all the stakeholders for their relentless efforts of responding to their calls by coming out to support their development master plan which focuses at creating a modern learning environment for their over 6,000 students.

The headmaster Nantagya Grace Ssebanakitta told this website on the sidelines of the marathon that whereas the facility is the signature project for the 130 years, the underlying purpose is to churn out well-rounded learners with the capacity of positively impacting the nation.

He observed that he was confident that in the next 36 months, Mengo will have a state-of-the-art multipurpose dining facility to house several key faculties that will transform Uganda’s approach to the education sector.

Nantagya with his board members led by Robina Kyeyune took minister Kabanda to the magnificent sprawling facility saying the school has already injected Shs 1 billion to kick start the works, which are at the foundation stage of which development impressed them.
