The minister for Kampala Metropolitan affairs Hajjati Minsa Kabanda has launched the’ Kamwokya at Heart’ CBO which brings together over 500 members from the Ghetto communities of Kamwokya to jointly fight poverty among their households.

Kabanda told the members at the Kamwokya KCCA primary school On Saturday 27th September 2025 that government was committed to ensuring that organized and well-focused community-based organizations [CBOs] do access funding support from the many listed government programs like PDM, Emyooga, GROW women empowerment program, both the women and youth livelihood programs among others.

The minister urged the locals of Kamwokya  to vote for her as their next member of parliament for Kampala Central division because she has the potential and ability to forward their economic empowerment challenges to the government for action.

‘Am excited to meet and launch this CBO based here in  Kamwokya of which we promise to secure the necessary funding logistics to boost their small holder projects’ noted Kabanda.

She pledged to offer funding support to the new CBO as well as return with another free medical camp program for the area community members who may be facing medical challenges as well as providing the necessary bed bug spraying equipment which had reportedly become a nightmare to the residents of Kifumbira among other communities given the overcrowding living conditions.

The mayor Kampala Central division Uhuru Salim Nsubuga who earlier visited the CBO pledged to support them because their development agenda was in line with the NRM economic transformational program.

The Kamwokya at Heart CBO chairman Joseph Ssenyonga told the minister that their members are working in various small holder mini projects ranging from mushroom growing, tailoring, confectionery and liquid soap making market work among others but do lack sufficient funds to boost their status.

Ssenyonga urged the minister to consider them for funding support such that his members can improve on their income basket enabling them to develop capabilities of sending their children to school and meeting other basic household needs.

He revealed that the CBO also shall actively canvas for support for all the NRM party flag bearers within the division beginning with their presidential candidate Museveni, aspiring Kampala central MP Minsa Kabanda, Mayor Salim Uhuru and all respective councillors.
