Museveni Names CCEDU’s Kaheru On Civic Education Board

President Yoweri Museveni has named a five-man team to push for inclusive and sustained coordinated mechanism for civic education in Uganda.

The president named the former Electoral Commission Chairperson Joseph Biribonwa as the Chairman Board of Directors. Others are; Makerere University’s Barbara Katende and UHRC’s Med Kaggwa as alternate Vice Chairpersons while Crispin Kaheru, the coordinator Citizens Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) as the Board Secretary. UN Resident Coordinator is the Patron of the initiative.

The team was named on the sidelines of the on-going ‘Africa Now’ conference at the Commonwealth Resort Hotel, Munyonyo.

The National Initiative of Civic Education in Uganda is an initiative of the President and is expected to among other things coordinate and harmonize provisions of civic education by state and citizen-led frameworks.
