Muslim Students Cautioned over moral degeneration

LUWERO: Students who subscribe to the Islamic religion have been reminded to always embrace the holy Islamic teachings of the Quran as the only way to overcome societal challenges.

The remarks have been made by the senior presidential advisor on Kampala Metropolitan affairs Hajjati Sarah Kanyike Ssebagala while representing the minister for Kampala Metropolitan affairs Hajjati Minsa Kabanda during the annual music dance and drama inter house competitions for Kakungulu high school Kalule Bombo in Luwero district.

The minister in her speech emphasized the need for students subscribing to the Islamic faith to always embrace the holy teachings from the Quran which is their earthly spiritual nourishment guiding constitution fully enriched with messages of positive living.

We wish to remind all individual students who subscribe to the Islamic faith in the country and East Africa at large that they need to be aware of the current trends in society which are  filled with many satanic temptations such as homosexuality, HIV and Aids, corruption, moral decadence among others and must tread carefully to avoid falling victims, cautioned the minister.

She congratulated the school director Juma Matovu and the management team for effectively keeping the legacy of the late school founding director and freedom fighter Capt. Abdu Kyeyune is alive as well as starting up the theology subject which is aimed at shaping the spiritual nourishment of the future leaders of tomorrow.

Hajjati  Kanyike in her own remarks urged school boards to budget and exclusively  invest resources in the talent promotion sector  for their  students given that music, dance and drama have become a lucrative income earning business for the young people.

“As a young girl born at Kibuli in Makindye division, my father died when I was in P2 and as a talented netballer managed to study on bursaries from P4 up to University level before becoming a graduate teacher serving for 15 years,” narrated Kanyike.

She pointed out that it was netball talent that helped her to maneuver through the leadership systems of government beginning with politics to become deputy mayor during Ssebaana Kizito era, later moving on to become speaker of KCCA and deputy lord mayor during Erias Lukkwago era respectively and currently runs the Sarah Kanyike Foundation whose principal objective is to offer a holistic education to the children of mankind.

“Strongly encourage parents to exclusively look out and identify any possible talents among their children and effectively urge the learners to push forward with it as it could be their turning point for a better future advised Kanyike’ adding that many Kakungulu High school students who have participated in the MDD competitions are likely to become talented stars of tomorrow s future. 

The NRM party mobilizer for Kampala Metropolitan area hajjati Zam Zam Namubiru commended the school board for investing in talent identification programs for the students saying the government critically appreciates such innovations as they give future hope and job empowerment solutions for many young people.

Hajjati Zam Zam challenged parents never to ignore or attempt to obstruct the talents of their children in apparent preference to other professions because talents have become a new goldmine for self-job creation which development explains why the government has invested heavily in talents identification and promotion among all educational institutions across all categories.

While narrating his story as an old boy of Kakungulu high school, Maj. Baziba Osman from the UPDF Airforce said having joined the school in 2002 as an athletics star managed to secure a bursary that pushed him up to University level and has managed to return back to his school with new plans

 leading a campaign of setting up a classroom block in memory and appreciation towards his school as well as having started the Ex-Caliba international security company as his private company to recruit OBs and OGs from this great school.

The school director Juma Matovu in his brief but shocking testimony recalled how his late father NRA bush war veteran Capt, Abdu Kyeyune with permission from president Museveni started the school in 1996 at the outskirts of the nearby Bombo military base in memory to support the fallen NRA veteran children talent identification and general education program.

Matovu said with this new development it enabled him to join his father who unfortunately later passed on but together with a strong team of directors began their long journey of offering an all-round educational opportunity to the children of the neighborhood communities including East Africa in general.

We have since targeted to strengthen our   strategic young talent identification campaign which program has enabled us enroll over 600 current students and given our big conducive learning environmental   school infrastructure systems, we are still capable of hosting up to 2,000 resident students for the new future and do encourage   parents who critically value our talent identification program to send in more students for better future returns, he noted. 

 Matovu thanked  the exclusive support from senior government officials including  hajjati Minsa Kabanda,  hajjati Zam Zam Namubiru and the UPDF air force boss Maj. Baziba Osman among others for their relentless support which has enabled them remain steady and focused for a brighter prosperous future.
