The hotly contested Entebbe Municipality National Resistance Movement (NRM) mayoral race ended yesterday after Micheal Mutebi beat his rival Fabrice Rulinda with a margin of 2,000 votes. However Fabrice Rulinda has disputed the outcome of the election saying his voters were disfranchised especially in Bunonko/Misori village, Entebbe Division “B’ where he expected to garn maximum number of votes.
According to the results released by Wakiso district Deputy NRM Registrar, Shaban Kawooya, indicate that Micheal Mutebi garnered a total of 5,427 votes while Fabrice Rulinda garnered 3,474 votes.
Meanwhile, the voting exercise was characterized with chaos and voters
bribery and consequently voting was cancelled at Bunonko/Misori polling station as supporters of Mutebi rounded up the returning officer and tore the voters register.
