NABBED FOR DEFILEMENT! How city businessman lured girl, 16, with KFC Chicken, Pizza, smartphone

By Francis Otucu

Kampala Metropolitan Police – South, headquartered at Katwe, are holding city businessman and proprietor, Katumwa Sports Centre on allegations related to defilement.

David Katumwa’s arrest followed a case filed against him at Kizungu Police Post over the disappearance of a 16-year old girl (name withheld).

According to the girls mother, Yasmin Ahmed, 37; her daughter went missing over two weeks ago only to be seen by neighbors on several occasions being driven out by Katumwa from his Makindye-Kizungu home.

Attempts to involve Kizungu Police Post to have Katumwa arrested were futile as reports suggest he had the officers in his ‘pockets’.

It is then that the girl’s parents resorted to negotiation. However, sources say negotiations to have Katumwa ‘free’ the girl failed to materialize with Katumwa saying the girl was a ‘lost and found’.

It is then that the girl’s parents petitioned Katwe Police Division. Monday, Katumwa was arrested and held.

Deputy KMP spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed arrest without divulging details.

Now, this news site understands that before the girl disappeared, Katumwa sent her popular KFC chicken and pizza, on a daily, so she could accept his proposal. A smartphone followed, to ease communication. This phone was confiscated by the girl’s mother, sources say. The seizing of the phone prompted disappearance, until she was located at Katumwa’s on a rip-off by the girl’s cousin. By press time, the girl was still ‘missing’. It is on this ground that the police have halted charging Katumwa for defilement. The suspect is still being detained at Katwe as investigations into the matter continues.
