Nakalema Assumpta, an IT bachelors student at Mbarara University of science and technology [MUST] has awarded herself a free grant of 50M/= courtesy of the Ayute Africa Challenge Uganda a brain child project of Heifer International Uganda.
The development came to light over the weekend during the Ayute Africa challenge grants awards ceremony held at Makerere university where out of 261 applicants that registered for the challenge, only ten commanded by Nakalema managed to smile their way to the bank.
The undersecretary in the ministry of agriculture, animal industry and fisheries Ronald Segawa Gyagenda who stood in for Bright Rwamirama the state minister for animal industry as chief guest said the government appreciates the great work being undertaken by Heifer International for setting aside a huge agriculture and IT innovation grant
that aims at identifying and supporting tech-driven agricultural ideas that can tackle the challenges faced by smallholder farmers, such as food security, production efficiency, income stability, resilience, and access to finance.
