Criminal Investigations is holding five people over an unlawful possession of restricted wildlife species.
Well-placed sources say Frank James, Patrick Alyon, Pascal Lugadi, James Munguuchi and Yasin Muyiga are found in possession of live pangolin in Masindi.
Directorate’s spokesman, Charles Manzio Twine confirmed arrests.
Pangolin (lugave in Luganda), is one of the most endangered wildlife species whose meat and scales are highly valued by Chinese and Vietnamese for medicinal purposes.
Analysts argue that the trafficking of Wildlife endangered species is highly linked to either money laundering or terrorism.
The offence of unlawful possession of restricted wildlife species, carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and can only be tried by a Chief Magistrate or higher courts.
