Ssasaga Godffrey Wanzira the former Director Citizenship and Immigration Control has vowed to back and support any strong candidate who would come up to contest against and uproot tycoon Haji Sulaiman Lumolo Mafabi for the slot of Sironko district NRM chairperson.
Early this month NRM party Electoral commission chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi announced that his party would go for internal local council/city and district structural elections where they would elect chairpersons among others.
Upon the above background, several districts have been coming up with lists of intending candidates vying to fill the vacant positions.
Tycoon haji Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo was shocked to see on the list a fellow tycoon Ssasaga Godffrey Wanzira, Gidagui Gregory Mafabi, Nakiyi Julius, Kiwungulo John Wanambwa Allan and Umar Nangoli.
Haji Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo owner of Kampala Modernity car bond is on record as the only NRM party chairman in the country who bought a plot of land and built NRM house offices worthy 300m. This is the only property with a land title that NRM party has in the country.
However, The Second Opinion reached out and spoke to all these candidates over their position to contest as some feared that contesting against Lumolo is a no go zone, comparing it to life and death.
Ssasaga Godffrey Wanzira.
“I will back, support and fund any strong candidate against Haji Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo. Quote me right. For Sironko to have political harmony in the NRM party then Lumolo must not be at the party helm,” Said Ssasaga.

Look, he added, “I am not going to contest against him (Lumolo) for the coming NRM district party elections but I will strongly support to defeat him. We were politically disgruntled in Sironko, bulldozed by one person who wants to serve the interest of his family by fronting his children against the will of the people and such political games must stop in Sironko for us to develop politically, economically and socially.”
Ssasaga, a fellow tycoon and former director citizenship and Immigration Control contested in the NRM primaries and the Jan 14th 2021 general elections for Budadiri East constituency Sironko district and lost in both.
He says that the NRM primaries were not free and fair and the NRM disgruntled candidates gave room to the opposition John Isaiah Ssasaga to win the Jan 2021 polls.
Asked why he could not contest himself, Ssasaga said “am not in such now” and that he is busy in farming at the moment while as the seat needs close mobilization, recruitment and strengthening the party at the grass root.
Julius Nakiyi
A professional accountant who is on record for shaking Budadiri West long serving MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi for the position of Bugisu cooperative Union (BCU) chairmanship. He was in the race for the Budadiri East MP seat both in primaries and general elections against former MP Vincent Woboya but lost.

He said that he will not contest for the Sironko NRM district chairmanship at the moment.
“I will not contest now, am busy in Burundi and I have no time for home politics but there is need for a change. The Ultimate decision will be made by the district conference but there is need to reinvigorate the leadership given the losses the party suffered in the last election. People must take responsibility for results,” he said.
Gidagui Gregory Mafabi
The rosary man is a true son of Sironko district whose name appeared many times on the list of possible Umukhuka of Bamasaba.
The tycoon and owner of Kayegi Hotel in Mbale and biological brother to former MP Cosma Busima told the Second Opinion that he is not interested in the seat.
Kiwungulo John.
Born in Bumasifwa sub county Sironko district to Mzee John Wodada Magawa, one of the founding member of UPM, Kiwungulo contested in both NRM primaries and general elections 2021 for Budadiri East constituency and lost.

“I was born with a lion heart , I do not fear any one am ready to remove Haji Sulaiman Lumolo from the position of NRM district party chairman , am only confused with the circular of Dr. Tanga Odoi indicating that district delegates conferences must hold consensus on the position , that unless there no agreement then voting takes place but in this particular district , they will only come up to say they had a consensus which is wrong but Sironko NRM leadership now needs a change,” he said.
He said that he has tried to seek explanations from Dr. Tanga Odoi and NRM party Secretary General Richard Todwong about the new circular but has so far got no proper response.
Wanambwa Allan
He kept on saying that he was busy to comment about his position on the matter.
“Yes Nathan it is true my name was on the list but am busy now, I will get time and we talk” sounded Wanambwa
Haji Sulaimani Mafani Lumolo.
By press time efforts to talk to Lumolo failed as his known phone numbers were not going through.
However, a close confidant told this website that Lumolo had warned to crush anyone who dare cross his way to the position of Sironko district NRM chairmanship.
The source intimated to us that Lumolo told his supporters that he is not educated and the only way he can reach out to president Museveni is by holding the position of the district NRM chairman.
He added that Lumolo basing on the above matter he decided to offer his 300m to buy land and build NRM house in Sironko and furnished it.
“To Lumolo, it will not happen. That is his position and that is why he was one time elected while away on his business trips in China long ago”, A sourced disclosed to us. Other contenders reportedly coming for Lumolo’s NRM position include Umar Nangoli a former RDC – Mbale who contested in Mbale City Northern Division and a one Nadunga a former candidate in the Sironko woman MP seat.
