Sugar plantation razed by fire

By Francis Otucu

Horyal Investment Holding Limited, owners of the sugar company in Atiak, are yet to come to terms with a multi-million loss following a wildfire that razed a huge section of its plantation yesterday.

The fire reportedly began at 2: 30pm, with some sources indicating it could be the work arsonists.

However, The Second Opinion has established that after introducing drones to trace the source of fire, police established it was wild fire, and a case Vide CRB 18/2019 has been reported at the Central Police Station, Amuru.

Regional Police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the incident.

He said: “Amuru police in collaboration with Atiak police visited the scene, photographs taken, sketch plan drawn and attached to case file. While at the scene, a drone was introduced, and images captured and established that this was wild bush fire that entered the sugar plantation.”
