Electoral observer, the Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) has in a statement said the decision of the Supreme Court on the judgments earlier made by the Constitutional Court was expected.
CCEDU Coordinator, Crispin Kaheru said it would be hasty to imagine that the Supreme Court would make a ruling that he said would upset the executive politically.
“The overall Supreme Court verdict fell within expectation – under the circumstances. In a Country where you have a very dominant Presidency or executive, it would be hasty to imagine that the Supreme Court would make a ruling that would politically upset the executive,” he said.
He noted that Uganda is still caught up in a situation where the president has a say in decisions and actions of both Parliament and the Courts of Law.
